From Ladadika to Vardaris: neighborhoods in motion
How do big ideas and key directions for the future of cities meet local stories, buildings, streets, and neighborhoods?

Thessaloniki Social Atlas, as part of the International Building Exhibition “IBA Vienna in Thessaloniki” and with the support of the Heinrich Böll Stiftung – Thessaloniki Office, invites you to “From Ladadika to Vardaris: neighborhoods in motion” walking tour, organized by Dot2Dot, this Saturday, October 18th.

Strolling through the western part of the city center, we trace the transformations of the district with the help of articles from the Thessaloniki Social Atlas. The Atlas, a living archive of research and social observations, is transferred to the streets and serves as an opportunity to discover stories about habitation, deindustrialization and new entrepreneurship, about open spaces and greenery, and the intrusion of the private into the public space.

Date & Time:
Saturday, October 18th, 2025 | 10:00-12:30

At the end of the tour, participants, residents, commuters and friends of the district, as well as experts in urban transformation, will take part in an unstructured, non-hierarchical discussion, sharing their experiences, impressions, ideas and opinions (12:30-14:00, Utopia Taproom – 11 Gladstonos Street, Mavili Square).
